The Love of the Heart of Jesus A Guided Retreat for Priests Focusing on the Sacred Liturgy as the Living Spring of Priestly Spirituality June 20th to June 25th, 2010

During the "Year For Priests," the Liturgical Institute proudly presents its first spiritual retreat for priests. Intended to combine theological and practical aspects of liturgy with prayer and meditation, the retreat takes place on the beautiful campus of the University of Saint Mary of the Lake just outside of Chicago. Spiritual master Fr. Lawrence Hennessey of Mundelein Seminary offers a retreat centered on the mystery of Christ disclosed by the Holy Spirit in the mission of a priest. Using the various invocations of the Holy Spirit (epiklesis) during the course of the Eucharistic Liturgy as a framework, it will pay special attention to the "practical," everyday implementation of biblical, theological, and spiritual principles in the lived reality of a priest’s life and ministry. Each day includes spiritual conferences with Fr. Hennessey, Mass chanted with English propers, sung morning, midday and evening prayer, and free time for personal prayer and meditation on the beautiful campus of Mundelein Seminary. Confession and spiritual direction are available as desired. A schola led by noted Chicago composer and conductor Kevin Allen will sing at the Solemn Mass of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, and a guest lecture by Archbishop Charles J.
